PennyoHendrix
Principal, Digital Culture
PennyoHendrix has been a musician and artist since childhood, and has worked in the Information Technology field since 1983.
She began her technology career as a programmer, and progressed through the roles of analyst, systems programmer,
database administrator, business analyst, data administrator, and project manager before advancing into mid-level and executive level management.
Her time in the many different trenches of information technology organizations educated her in the language of technology and the intricacies of
building and leading high-performance teams staffed with often-quirky professionals.

Along the way, she took note as the Personal Computer transformed the familiar corporate computing landscape. She watched large, complex systems slowly give way to more user-friendly and graphics-intensive applications. In 1995, it became clear to her that the Internet was dramatically shifting computing paradigms, and she opted to leave the old familiar ways behind in favor of the newer technologies. The slow-to-change corporate environment encouraged her to start her own company dedicated to "new media" - a company named "Digital Culture". Armed with a book about HTML, a new PC and a simple graphics program, she began building Web sites and taking on whatever other projects would sustain the business: writing user documentation, designing marketing materials for print, creating interactive marketing presentations, teaching, speaking, and managing projects.
Pennyospecializes in taking piece-meal, experimental sites built by enthusiastic, but inexperienced, developers, and applying the time-tested fundamentals of both artistry and computing to them. She restructures and transforms "dead" sites into lively sites, and creates a buffer to shield their non-technical owners from technical gobbledy-gook. She empowers ordinary people to attain and maintain a compelling and useful Web presence.
